Lane Kiffin to USC

Lane Kiffin is done making enemies in the SEC and has reportedly moved on to SC. This is a great hire for SC. Kiffin has shown his chops as both a recruiter and head coach. He also has ties to SC as he was their offensive coordinator before taking the Oakland job. Also, if he takes the Vols staff with him, he is bringing a solid crew. I think SC couldn't have made a better hire. It also means we get another press conference with Lane's wife.

The coaching carousel continues to turn and now it comes to be seen what the Vols recruits will do as well as who they will hire as coach. I ask you, what do you think of SC hiring Lane Kiffin?

Kinda shocking but this chose makes sense. I agree with ya Nate this is a great hire. He knows the culture of USC along with Ed Orgeron knows the culture. Lane is a good recruiter and bringing along his dad to run the defense is a solid choice. He has a young talented team and he should be successful

Ummmmm??? The guy is a walking NCAA violation going to a program where a hammer is about to drop on the athletic department due to Reggie Bush and O.J. Mayo.

Kiffin took the greasy USC attitude with him to Tennessee, and when USC has a chance to right the ship and bring someone respectable in, they go Lane Kiffin?? I'm laughing. This has Rich Rod failure written all over it. Maybe not 3-9 bad, but this program isn't sniffing the Pete Carrol dominance over the last 10 years.

If Tennessee can pull Muschamp or Gruden, it will be the best thing that ever happened to them. They were another year from Kiffin burying them to the depths Carrol is about to leave USC.

Is it not coincidental USC was just told by the NCAA that they will not be allowed to self impose sanctions, and Reggie Bush just gave yet released testimony in regards to Lloyd Lake? And Bush's father is on tape talking about owing several hundred thousands of dollars, but everyone stay calm so Reggie's birth-mom doesn't flip when she finds out its all illegal. A movie needs to be made starring Kiffin's wife....

1) I don't think they'll have a Rich Rod type failure. They can get by on talent alone.

2) The violations are troubling but until the NCAA punishes the football program (the Mayo stuff doesn't apply), they will continue to cruise.

3) Not many places have Pete Carroll dominance.

4) Muschamp isn't leaving Texas anytime soon.
